Umm Gammar-local people called the Island Mother Moon. A few decades ago, Hans Hass diving here and made the first underwater films. You'll see the remains of the cage against the sharks. It remains the pioneering dives in the Red Sea.
Steel cage is located in the anchorage on the south of the island. Reef has the shape of a crescent. Umm Gammar is just a 60 minutes boat ride from Hurghada, around a small island, on which is a lighthouse. Mooring ropes are on the south side of the reef. Diving beginning of the plateau, which extends to the western part of the reef. Sailing east we reach the bottom of a steep bleed. We go along the reef wall at a depth of 22 meters we find coral column. Along the way, we find the remains of the Egyptian Military Navy (about 30 meters), which sank on its way to the island Shedwan. On the reef, there are also two other boat wrecks. Unfortunately, the depth at which lie is above of the limit for safety recreational diving. At a depth of 30 meters is underwater cave. After 5 meters corridor turns to the right and narrows dangerously. This reef is not just a wall and wreck, but also cavities and tunnels, which happen to be available to all, as it is at a depth of several meters. Perfectly suited for drift, this is one of the few places in Hurghada, where we can meet sharks. In the eastern part of the island is a 40-meter cliff is a place where you can meet at dawn shark.
