Flight after a dive. Proper planning involves diving mandatory break before traveling by air. The pressure drop in an aircraft may cause symptoms of decompression sickness (DCS).
The time interval depends on the following factors: the amount and depth of dives, the recommended interval (dive computers, dive tables), the use of breathing mixtures (gases). With no decompression dives (no deco) minimum recommended for a dive to 12 hours, with a few dives recommended 18 to 24 hours. Safer to take 24 hours.
Susceptibility of the organism for tissue nitrogen saturation depends on the body and can vary widely. As indicated diving computers could be based on various algorithms. Please note that charter flights acceleration occurs departure time. Better and safer to take a greater margin of safety. If signs or symptoms of decompression sickness on-board, stewardess should be informed immediately and give oxygen.
